This piece was started with one idea in mind, but as I followed my developing process, there was a moment where I saw only the beauty in the forms that inspired me to change course. It suddenly became very important that I not make art about things that I hate and I declared, aloud to myself in my studio, “No. I choose gentleness.” This enabled me to follow a different path that demanded new skills and a focus on softening both myself and the way I used my paints.
